Twenty One Pilots

There's this band that I fell in love with. Many people are not into their music and that's completely fine with me because a lot of people don't know great things when they see or hear them. I recently went to their concert at the Greek Theater and it was probably the best experience of my life.

Trying to get tickets was so difficult until finally my boyfriend was able to get my best friend Jazmin and I tickets. We couldn't have been happier, especially since we got these tickets the day before the actual concert and we were so pumped.

Throughout the whole day of the concert it was all I could think about playing their songs over and over on my phone or even just in my head. It didn't hit me that I was actually going to see them until I was sitting through the opening act just patiently waiting, listening to them.

Then they came on and every person in that theater stood up and probably yelled at the top of their lungs. Seeing them perform made me realize how weird and just plain out crazy those two guys are but I guess that just makes me love them even more. Not one moment did I sit down through the concert. We were standing, jumping, swaying, leaning, rocking, and at even one point I was on Jazmin's shoulders. Their singing was amazing and sounded so smoothly as if we were hearing their album off the disc. Tyler, the lead singer, even ended up going on top of the sound booth and singing a song up there which was insane of him but it was ultimately great.

After this concert watching all the videos just make me really sad and make me wish I could go back. Now when I listen to them on my phone or on the radio I could just say "wow i saw them live". It was definitely the best day I've had in a long time.

To the Future

Over the weekend, I sent out my first college application. I didn't see fireworks going off or confetti fall from the ceiling, like I imagined as I clicked "submit".  My mom asked me how I felt after I submitted it and I didn't have an answer. Everyone says this is supposed to be such an exciting time in your life. New possibilities and new roads for all of us. However, I'm not sure I feel as excited as everyone says I should. Right now, I'm nervous. I'm nervous about getting my SAT score back and I'm nervous about which colleges I'll get an acceptance letter from.I'm hoping the exciting feeling will come around 2nd semester when I have more of the future figured out. There is so much pressure of even applying to the right college. Am I applying to a school that has a good program for what I want to major in? Do I even know what I want to major in? What interests me now at 17, might not interest me by the time I finished my general education degree. Everyone is talking about personal statements and I don't have one because I'm applying to CSU schools, but the application process is different for everyone. Don't feel pressured to apply to a UC school because everyone else is and you don't have to apply to an out of state school just because your best friend wants to go away to college. I feel like everyone is judgmental when you tell them where you're applying. College is a huge decision and the choice should be made solely off what is in your best interest.

I remember hearing my older cousins talk about applying to college, and now it's my turn. I remember elementary school so vividly, when did I become old enough to apply to college?! As I typed in every grade I have received since freshman year, I felt proud of myself and hoped it would be enough to earn an acceptance letter. Right now, I'm stressed, but I know after the last application is submitted it will be worth it in the end. To everyone feeling this same stress, keep pushing! For now I'm just taking preparation for the future one day at a time and still enjoying my senior year. Good luck to everyone on their college applications and cheers to the future, my friends!

Excitement

Even though this year has just started out I am having so much fun.  Being almost 18 I have much more freedom to do what I want.  For the duration of school I have been able to go to many concerts here in Orange and L.A. county.  I have seen so many bands live and it has been pretty much a great experience.  The year is still fresh so I hope to see much more .

Every weekend I am usually in L.A. seeing the local bands play or you can catch me in orange county checking out some free festivals with lots of great talent.

I have high hopes for this year, not only outside of school but in school as well.  So far my favorite thing that has happened in school this year was senior seminar.  There is much more coming my way I can feel it, instead of looking with fear I choose to look through curiosity about the unknowns of this year.  I advise many should do as well.

AF: How to think about blogging

Students must write (write to learn; write to discover what you think; think in public; put your thoughts out there) on this blog, and respond to peers with comments.  Each ‘Basically Fine’ student will create one post, and respond to two others. (‘Above and Beyond’ students will do more.) Posts should be no shorter than 450 300 words, and comments must be substantial and relevant.  Comments such as “me too!” or “I know how you feel!” are beautiful sentiments, but these do not demonstrate the requisite depth or complexity of thought that we are looking for from graduating seniors.  Say something real, and say it to the best of your ability.

Just Breathe

Over the weekend, I decided to go out for a drive with my brother. We both wanted to escape the very thought of responsibility that we would have to face after our short expedition. At midday, my brother got on the freeway, which was a bit empty for that time of day, and drove to the seaside. Once I pushed the door open, the gentle breeze of sea salt in the air greeted me. I stood there on the hill gazing at a vast panorama of the ocean. Soaking in the sun’s rays and the aesthetic view in front of me, I felt a calming feeling – I felt that I could breathe. At the moment I was able to clear my head of all the deadlines and piles of work that I would have to return to. For once, I appreciated nature for what it was and not think about the things I had to do. In some way this experience was therapeutic; it was like I was getting a massage just by being surrounded in that atmosphere.

I think that it’s necessary to take a break from anything that is stressful. Before taking on multiple tasks, it’s good to just breathe and have some time for yourself. In doing so, it makes tasks seem less stressful than it was. I know that senior year is going to be hectic with all the work and deadlines that I’ll have to face, but I know that if I have time to breathe things will be okay.

Because of You

Hi everybody what do you think about my poem?

Because of you, my illusions of love have faded.
Because of you, our memories are killing me.
Not anyone will i love again, i believe.
Because of you, i cant picture happiness anymore.
Because of you all i see is hatred towards guys.
Because of you, my illusions of love have faded.

Because of you my parents cant trust me anymore.
Because of you my heart will for ever be broken, i believe.
Because of you i don't feel happy like before.
Because of you i committed mistakes that i regret.
Because love for me means and feels nothing, nothing.
Because of you, my illusions of love have faded.

I understand god makes things happen for a reason.
I say, why would he want to see me hurt?
Because of you, my fear is to love again.
I try to forget, to move on but because of you it hurts and its hard.
Because of you, because of you, all because of you.

Because of you, my illusions of love have faded.

Just Average

"Just Average Nothing more and Nothing less."

That's all he is, another person with another dream, a dream that might or might not come true depending on his mood.

He's Just like everyone else going with the flow wondering... When will I get a chance to show who I really am?

That kid you used to call weird had to learn how to fit into society and lock his true self away because of what the other kids say.

He started thinking before he spoke, realizing what he should do to fit in, because all he wanted to do was be one of them.

He started doing everything by the book, watching what he says to people so they don't look at him strange, doing things "properly" and not sloppy, slowly but surely he was fitting in.

On the inside though he was going insane. This boy became what most people are to be considered...well you know the word.

All he wanted to be was one of them, he didn't care if he was cool or not, he just sought for someone to be with.

As the years went on he thought this was what he wants, he finally found that one person he can be with...or so he thought.

It was nothing new. he did everything by the book, he played the part of the gentleman, not once he tried to take advantage of this girl, he gave her something that most people can't give...True love.

The girl never saw this because the boy always hid this love deep inside hoping that his chance will arrive. Sadly that chance would never come...because the boy had waited to long.

The girl that he had fell in love with has gone with someone else. The boy did everything that he was supposed to do, he followed every bit of detail but his effort was all for not.

The girl he had fought for is no where to be found and questions began to fill his head.

In his mind he realized something, maybe it was even a sign. What he went through was like any other movie.

Guy and girl become best friends, guy secretly has crush on girl, and finally girl goes for another guy and leaves the best friend.

What a cliche ending, one that suits him.

He chuckled softly and said "Just Average Nothing more and Nothing less".
